Careers in Construction
The Construction Industry is facing a lack of new workers entering the industry and in many of its trades. Coupled with the fact that there has been a sharp drop in the number of college leavers entering into construction, it is vital that employers, along with colleges, federations and associations work together to promote the benefits of joining the industry and making it a first choice career path.
Our Group Training Officer is a former CITB Apprenticeship Officer who will be happy to offer some guidance if you are considering taking on an apprentice in the construction industry. A list of apprenticeships can be found on Institute for Apprenticeships (IFATE) Several local colleges offer apprenticeships, covering most trades.
Brief Overview:
*Apprentices must be employed PAYE
*Paid the legal Apprentice minimum wage www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates
*Be paid when in college
*Have a suitable member of the team to support/teach and learn from.
